Jamshedpur Resident Duped in Part-Time Job Ruse, Loses Over Rs 2 Lakhs
JAMSHEDPUR – A Singh, residing in Chhota Govindpur, Jamshedpur, fell prey to an online scam, losing Rs 2 lakh 3 thousand 563 in a part-time job fraud.
The incident unfolded between May 22 and May 30.
The victim discovered the fraud upon attempting to finance a car on July 30.
She realized that one D Kumar Singh, from Barigora Parsudih, had allegedly misused her Aadhaar, PAN card, and mobile number.
D Kumar Singh allegedly took a loan and credit card from Mahindra Finance using her details.
She lodged a complaint at the cyber police station in Bistupur.
The scam began with a WhatsApp message about a part-time job on May 22.
She was directed to a Telegram group and a YouTube talk.
The victim was enticed to send money through a URL, starting with Rs 1,000.
Subsequent transactions included amounts of Rs 3,000, Rs 12,500, and Rs 49,999.
On May 24, she sent Rs 60,000 and Rs 30,000.
The final transaction of Rs 46,764 occurred on May 30.
When the promised returns were not received, the victim contacted a person named V Kumar.
Refusing to send an additional Rs 2 lakh, she found the Telegram link locked.
On July 30, when financing a car, she discovered the loan and credit card fraud.
D Kumar Singh had previously rented a house to her.
The police are actively investigating the case after registering the complaint.
