Drinking water shortage and uranium contamination concerns raised
Deputy Commissioner assures action on water crisis and orphan’s education support request.
JAMSHEDPUR – The water situation in the Jugsalai area is deteriorating, and the local legislator Mangal Kalindi is urging for immediate action.
MLA Mangal Kalindi convened a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal to address the acute drinking water shortage that is currently affecting Jugsalai.
The legislator expressed apprehension regarding the purported discharge of uranium-contaminated water into the drainage system by UCIL.
Kalindi declared during the meeting that the residents of Jugsalai are at significant health risk as a result of this contamination.
The MLA encouraged the Deputy Commissioner to collaborate with the Odisha government in order to discharge water into the Kharkai River.
Mittal reported that it has initiated communication with the authorities of Odisha in relation to the water crisis.
Following the DC’s instructions, a team has been dispatched to investigate the situation at Jugsalai Kusum Ghat.
Kalindi also lobbied for government assistance to cover the educational expenditures of Vaishnavi Mahato, an orphaned student.
"The Deputy Commissioner has assured appropriate action on both the water crisis and the education support request," the legislator reported.
It is anticipated that the authorities will act promptly to address the potable water shortage in the affected regions.
Concrete measures to address the water scarcity and potential health hazards from contamination are eagerly anticipated by the residents of Jugsalai.
