MEDININAGAR – During intensified checks at a Palamu district checkpoint, authorities seized six lakh eight thousand rupees in cash from a car as part of election-related monitoring.

Ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly elections, Palamu district officials have implemented robust inspection measures to prevent any election-related misconduct.

Eight security checkpoints have been established across the district to monitor vehicles for unaccounted cash or other illegal materials. One such checkpoint, located at the Rehla police station, sees heightened surveillance of all vehicles passing between Garhwa and Palamu.

During Tuesday’s inspection, officials confiscated the large cash amount from a vehicle traveling from Garhwa.

Intensive Checks Yield Cash Discovery

The seizure took place on Tuesday evening when a vehicle arriving from Garhwa was stopped at the Rehla checkpoint. Authorities discovered six lakh eight thousand rupees in cash inside the car, which belonged to Dr. Sudhanshu Kiran, a resident of Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. Rehla Station Officer Santosh Kumar confirmed the rigorous checking procedures in place.

“In light of the election, we are ensuring that no illicit funds or materials are transported through our checkpoints,” Kumar explained.

Doctor’s Explanation and Administrative Action

Upon questioning, Dr. Kiran stated that he was carrying the cash for the construction of his house in his village.

Despite his explanation, officials have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine if the money had any connection to election-related activities. Police are proceeding with an extensive inquiry into the source and intended use of the seized cash.

Enhanced Security Measures Across Palamu

Palamu’s district administration has reinforced security protocols, particularly by installing eight checkpoints to monitor cash flows and other potential election violations.

With these measures, authorities aim to uphold transparency and prevent any influence on the election process through unauthorized financial means.

Officials expressed that such monitoring will strengthen the rule of law during the election period and ensure fair practices.
