Railway Halts Eviction Drive at Gudri Market

Action Paused After Shopkeeper Cites High Court Petition

Key Points:

  • Railway team halted eviction at Gudri market site
  • Shopkeeper sought 15 days citing High Court case
  • Administration demands affidavit before further action

JAMSHEDPUR – Authorities paused an eviction drive in Gudri market after a shopkeeper cited a pending High Court petition and sought time to obtain a stay order.

The railway team reached Gudri market in Tatanagar with officials and police support. Meanwhile, the operation targeted a shop named Shri Lakshmi Bhandar.

However, Magistrate Sudipto Roy supervised the planned removal action. The team included railway engineering staff and heavy police deployment.

Meanwhile, shop owner Murari Lal Agrawal opposed the action strongly. He stated that a petition is already pending in the Jharkhand High Court.

Moreover, he requested 15 days to secure a stay order. He urged officials to delay the demolition until the court decision.

However, authorities reviewed the situation at the site. They decided to suspend the operation temporarily after discussions.

Meanwhile, the magistrate directed the shopkeeper to submit an affidavit. The affidavit must clearly state conditions linked to the court order.

Moreover, it must confirm that failure to get a stay allows removal. The railway can proceed without obstruction after 15 days.

In contrast, the decision has triggered debate among traders. Many local shopkeepers are questioning equal treatment in similar cases.

Meanwhile, concerns are rising about consistency in enforcement. Traders want clarity on future eviction drives in Jamshedpur.

However, officials maintained that the campaign will continue. They emphasized that action will remain within legal provisions.

Moreover, railway land encroachment cases will be addressed systematically. Authorities stated no illegal occupation will be allowed to persist.
