After a class 10 student commits suicide following reprimand over a bindi, her family protests outside the school, leading to legal action against the school’s principal and a teacher.
DHANBAD – A 17-year-old student from St. Xabiers School in the Tetulmari police station area of Dhanbad district tragically committed suicide.
The student, a resident of Hanumangarhi colony, was found hanged at her residence on Monday morning.
The Incident
It has been reported that the student had arrived at school wearing a bindi on Monday, to which her teacher, Sindhu, objected.
The teacher allegedly slapped the student for violating the school’s dress code.
The mother of the deceased said that when she complained, the principal also told her to take her bag and leave the school.
Upset by the teacher’s response, the class 10 student took her life at home.
In her uniform, the student left a suicide note for the Tetulmari police, pointing towards the incident at the school.
The Protest
In response to the tragic event, the family members of the student staged a protest outside the school on Tuesday.
They carried the body of the deceased student during the demonstration, leading to a blockage of the road from Tetulmari to Naya Mor.
The family and other relatives demanded justice for the deceased girl, seeking action against the school teacher and compensation.
Reaction from the Bauri Community
The District President of the local Bauri Samaj called for the school management to act decisively against the guilty teacher.
He insisted that the police must apprehend the teacher responsible for the incident.

Police Action
The Dhanbad police registered an FIR against the principal and the accused teacher of St. Xavier’s School, leading to their arrests.
They assured the protestors of legal action, bringing an end to the demonstration.
