Jharkhand BJP MPs Protest in Delhi Over Exam Scams

Aditya Sahu Accuses Congress of Silence on JPSC and JSSC Paper Leaks

Key Points:

  • All Jharkhand BJP MPs demonstrate at Makar Dwar in Delhi
  • Party seeks CBI probe into six years of recruitment exams
  • Rs 1 crore compensation demanded for 19 dead candidates

NEW DELHI – All Bharatiya Janata Party MPs from Jharkhand held a demonstration at Makar Dwar in Delhi over alleged irregularities in state recruitment examinations.

The protest was aimed at what the party called the Congress stand on the issue. It cited the JPSC, JSSC CGL and excise constable recruitment exams.

Moreover, Aditya Sahu led the demonstration at the site. He is the state BJP president and a Rajya Sabha member.

He accused the Congress of following two positions on student issues. He said the party was vocal in Delhi but quiet in Jharkhand.

Besides, he referred to the excise constable recruitment run. He said 19 candidates from the state had died during it.

“Nineteen families lost their children and the silence has not been broken,” Sahu said at the protest.

He demanded that the Hemant Soren government pay their families immediately. The party sought Rs 1 crore in compensation for each family.

In addition, Sahu said students had suffered whenever the Congress backed a government in the state. He described the party’s conduct as inconsistent.

Meanwhile, he asked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to travel to Jharkhand. He named Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi as well.

He said people in the state wished to question them directly. He said they should visit the land of Birsa Munda without delay.

On the other hand, the party demanded a central agency probe into the matter. It sought a CBI inquiry into every exam irregularity of the past six years.

Moreover, Sahu said those found guilty should be sent to jail. He said paper leak cases must also be covered by the inquiry.

He alleged that the CID inquiry was being used to shield the cases. He recalled the handling of the liquor scam in the state.

Besides, he said the recruitment cases would meet the same end. He described a CBI probe as the only remaining option.

The party also asked the Congress to withdraw support from the state government. It said the Congress should seek the resignation of Hemant Soren.

In addition, slogans were raised against the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the Congress. Protesters demanded that the future of the youth be secured.

Nishikant Dubey, B D Ram and Bidyut Baran Mahato joined the protest. Dr Pradeep Varma, Kalicharan Singh, Dhullu Mahto and Manish Jaiswal were also present.

Meanwhile, the BJP has taken up the issue on the ground earlier. The party had launched a street campaign against the state government in the past.

The Congress has run its own campaigns in the state on other issues. Its workers had earlier burnt an effigy during a city protest.

Besides, employment has remained a recurring subject of political contest here. A protest over inflation and unemployment was held earlier in Jamshedpur.

The state government has cited its own record on employment. Offer letters had been handed over to 11,600 youths at one event.

Opposition leaders have also raised welfare matters with the chief minister before. Such demands have been placed with the state administration on earlier occasions.
