Party Slams Congress’ Silence Over JPSC, JSSC Exam Row
Key Points:
- BJP to hold protest at every district headquarters in Jharkhand on Friday
- Party accuses Congress of double standards on recruitment exam issues
- BJP demands CBI probe into all JPSC-conducted examinations
RANCHI – The Bharatiya Janata Party will burn an effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at all district headquarters across Jharkhand on Friday, July 24. State BJP vice-president Balmukund Sahay announced the decision on Thursday.
The programme has been organised on the instructions of state party president Aditya Sahu. It targets what the party calls Congress’ hypocrisy over recent controversies surrounding recruitment examinations in the state.
Sahay said there is a wide gap between Congress’ words and its actions. He said the party talks about examination transparency across the country while staying completely silent on serious questions raised over various recruitment examinations in Jharkhand, including those conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission, the JSSC-CGL, and the excise constable recruitment drive.
He accused Congress of applying different standards in Delhi compared with Jharkhand. According to Sahay, the protest is aimed at highlighting this alleged double political character and the injustice meted out to the state’s youth.
Sahay further said that Congress’ silence over the matter exposes its double political character. He noted that Rahul Gandhi speaks about examination systems in his public addresses, yet has not commented on the alleged injustice faced by Jharkhand’s youth during the tenure of his party’s coalition partner in the state.
The BJP leader argued that if Congress genuinely cares about students, it should demand a CBI investigation into every examination conducted by the JPSC. That demand, he said, should be directed at the Hemant Soren-led state government, which functions with Congress’ support.
The party has also called for complete transparency in recruitment processes going forward. It has demanded strict action against those found guilty of wrongdoing in the examination system.
Sahay added that no compromise will be tolerated when it comes to the futures of young job aspirants. The BJP intends to register its protest democratically through the effigy-burning demonstrations at every district headquarters in the state.
The programme comes at a time when recruitment examinations conducted by state bodies have faced repeated scrutiny. Earlier controversies have also touched institutions such as the examination process for other competitive tests nationwide.
Meanwhile, concerns over governance and institutional accountability have featured prominently in recent state discourse. Discussions around the state budget earlier this year had also touched on administrative reform.
Other state-run bodies have faced separate institutional troubles this year as well. The Heavy Engineering Corporation crisis had drawn similar attention to governance lapses within Jharkhand’s public institutions.
No response from the Congress party or the state government had been issued at the time of this report.
