Jharkhand Launches Employee Health Coverage Plan

Tata AIG to provide Rs 5 lakh insurance for state workers

State initiative aims to enhance healthcare access for government employees, including retirees.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand government has recently launched a comprehensive health insurance scheme specifically designed for its workforce.

This initiative aims to provide extensive coverage and support to the employees, ensuring their well-being and peace of mind.

The Jharkhand administration has made a major move to enhance the welfare of its employees.

Tata AIG General Insurance Company has been selected to offer health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for state government employees.

This initiative is for both active and retired personnel, which shows how much the state cares about the well-being of its employees.

In 2024, there was a competitive tender for the selection process, and a bunch of insurance providers were all trying to win the contract. It was a pretty big deal.

Tata AIG came out on top among other competitors such as National Insurance, Oriental Insurance, Bajaj Allianz, and ICICI Lombard.

"This policy shows how much we care about the well-being and safety of those who serve our state," commented a high-ranking government official.

The premium payment structure varies for current and former employees in the scheme.

State-sponsored coverage will be available for active workers, but retirees will be responsible for managing their own premium costs.

This arrangement is designed to offer complete health coverage while also considering financial obligations.
