Hemant Soren to Be Sworn in as Chief Minister in a Simple Ceremony at Raj Bhavan
Hemant Soren is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Thursday evening at 5 PM.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand is poised to see the formation of a new government with Hemant Soren taking the oath as Chief Minister on Thursday evening at 5 PM.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Birsa Mandap of Raj Bhavan in a simple event where the Governor will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Soren.
Hemant Soren will be the sole person taking the oath during the ceremony.
Many party members are expected to attend the event.
On Wednesday evening, Champai Soren submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan.
Following this, Hemant Soren staked his claim to form the government and requested the Governor to schedule the swearing-in ceremony.
The political developments saw Governor Radhakrishnan arriving in Ranchi from Puducherry around 6:45 PM on Wednesday.
Subsequently, a meeting of the legislative party was held at Hemant Soren’s residence, where he was elected as the leader of the Mahagathbandhan.
Champai Soren and Hemant Soren then proceeded to Raj Bhavan together.
After submitting his resignation, Champai Soren told the media outside Raj Bhavan that he resigned voluntarily and stepped down from the Chief Minister’s position.
He also asserted the strength of the Mahagathbandhan under Hemant Soren’s leadership.
Hemant Soren, addressing the media, stated that the details of the swearing-in ceremony would be announced soon.
Although there were speculations about the ceremony taking place on Sunday, July 7, the date was confirmed for Thursday evening, putting an end to all rumors.
