Hemant Soren To Face Floor Test Within A Week Of Taking Oath
Governor Asks New CM To Prove Majority In Assembly
INDIA bloc claims support of 43 MLAs as strategy meeting called for July 7
RANCHI – Newly sworn-in Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been asked to prove his majority on the assembly floor within a week.
"The Governor has invited Soren to form the government and prove majority," stated Rajesh Thakur, Jharkhand Congress President.
Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan’s directive comes after Soren took oath on July 4, following Champai Soren’s resignation.
The INDIA bloc claims support of 43 MLAs in the 81-member assembly.
"All our MLAs are with the Chief Minister," Thakur assured, announcing a strategy meeting for July 7.
BJP currently has 24 MLAs, with AJSU holding 3 and NCP 1 seat.
The High Court recently granted Soren bail in a land scam case, citing lack of ED evidence.
All government officials have been ordered to be present during the assembly session starting July 8.
The confidence motion debate and voting will be held under Rule 139 of the assembly procedures.
This floor test marks a crucial moment in Jharkhand’s ongoing political developments.
