CHAIBASA – Security forces conducting a joint operation in West Singhbhum have recovered and safely destroyed a 5 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxalites in the Tumbahaka and Pradhan Ghat areas.
The IED was discovered during an ongoing operation targeting top CPI(Maoist) leaders.
Key Naxalite leaders, including Misir Besra and Anmael, have been identified as operating in the Kalehan area.
A joint team comprising Chaibasa Police, Cobra battalions, Jharkhand Jaguar, and multiple CRPF units is conducting the operation.
The operation has been ongoing since October 10, 2023, covering multiple villages in the region.
The explosive device was intended to target security forces in the area.
A bomb disposal squad safely destroyed the IED on-site to prevent any potential threat.
The operation covers areas under both Gailkera and Tanta police stations.
