Jharkhand Government Distributes Ration Bags Highlighting State Policies and Schemes

Over 66 Lakh Government Ration Bags Sent to Districts Including East Singhbhum

The Jharkhand government is set to distribute monthly rations in specially designed bags featuring the photo of Chief Minister Champai Soren, the state government logo, and key policies, including the 1932 Khatian.

JAMSHEDPUR – The state government of Jharkhand is launching a new initiative to distribute monthly rations directly to the homes of poor cardholders using specially designed bags.

These bags will prominently display Chief Minister Champai Soren’s photo, the Jharkhand government logo, and various state policies, including the 1932 Khatian.

More than 66 lakh government bags have been dispatched to districts across the state, including East Singhbhum.

The bags, prepared by the State Government’s Public Relations Department, carry the tagline "Silsila Jaari Rahega," emphasizing the continuity of government initiatives.

From this month, 52,17,620 ration cardholders under the Priority Household (PH) category, 8,92,455 Antyodaya ration cardholders under the National Food Security Act, and 5,12,536 green ration cardholders under the Jharkhand Government Food Security Scheme will receive their rations in these new bags.

Specific orders mandate that rations be distributed in these bags.

East Singhbhum district has received 4.75 lakh bags for this purpose.

Under the Sona-Sobran scheme, the government provides dhotis or lungis and sarees at Rs 20 each, twice a year, to all cardholders.

Economically disadvantaged cardholders will receive a free bag with a white background on one side and a green background on the other, featuring the Chief Minister’s photo, the state government logo, and various government policies.

The bags highlight several key policies, including the 1932 Khatian, reservations for OBCs (27%), STs (28%), and SCs (12%), the Chief Minister Excellent School initiative, the Sarvajan Pension scheme, the Chief Minister Gram Gaadi scheme, and Women Empowerment initiatives.

Other printed schemes include Mega Lift Irrigation, Kisan Pathshala, Rural Road Strengthening, Old Age Pension, Marang Gomke, KCC Pardeshi Hostel, Birsa Harit Gram Agriculture Loan Waiver, Guruji Student Credit Card, Chief Minister Employment Generation, Savitri Phule Kishari Smriddhi, Sarna Adivasi Dharma Code, Sona-Sobran Dhoti-Sari, Abua Veer Abua Dishom, 100 units of free electricity, cycle distribution, Aapki Yojana Aapki Sarkar Aapke Dwar, JPSC and JSSC Appointments, Pre and Post Matric Scholarships, Birsa Irrigation Well, Chief Minister Livestock Green Ration Card, and Phulo Jhano Ashirwad Yojna.

Free bags are provided to prevent cardholders from bringing their own bags.

According to sources, the bags were prepared before the Lok Sabha elections but were not distributed due to the Model Code of Conduct.

With the election process concluded, the bags have now been delivered to district headquarters and will be distributed to blocks and other government bodies, ensuring cardholders receive them through PDS dealers.

Experts believe the government aims to promote its policies and schemes through these bags.

The Sona-Sobran Dhoti-Sari scheme was initially launched in 2014 by then Chief Minister Hemant Soren, discontinued in 2015 by the Raghuvar Das-led NDA government, and reintroduced in 2020 by the current administration.
