JAMSHEDPUR – The Dhanbad Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested a retired jamadar, identified as L Singh, 63, on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known income sources during his service period.
ACB officials said Singh had allegedly amassed assets worth approximately ₹15 crore. These assets were beyond his legitimate income during his service tenure. The bureau conducted a late-night raid on his residential colony in Hirapur.
After the arrest, Singh complained of blood pressure and elevated sugar levels. He was subsequently admitted to SNMMCH hospital for treatment. He remains under medical supervision, and further legal proceedings will follow after doctors clear him.
The investigation into the case dates back to 2016. A preliminary inquiry was formally registered in February 2019. Meanwhile, the investigation report was submitted to ACB headquarters in September 2020.
An FIR was formally lodged in January 2023. On the basis of a completed probe, a special team was constituted to execute the arrest. The team raided Singh’s residence on Monday and seized relevant documents before taking him into custody.
It has also emerged that Singh had previously served as a security guard for former Union Minister Rita Verma. In addition, ACB stated that stringent action in corruption-related cases would continue going forward.
The Ranchi ACB bribery arrests and the Seraikela bribery sting are among several recent anti-corruption actions in Jharkhand. The ACB revenue employee arrest and the ED remand of Minister Alamgir Alam have also drawn attention.
