Angry Villagers Stage Protest on Roads Amid Severe Water Shortage
Key Points:
• Water supply completely disrupted for the last 48 hours in Govindpur area
• Around 22 thousand families from 21 panchayats affected by drinking water crisis
• Villagers warn of intensified protest if supply is not restored soon
Jamshedpur – Residents of the Govindpur Water Supply Scheme area in Jamshedpur have been facing a severe drinking water crisis for the last 48 hours after water supply was completely disrupted. Around 22 thousand families across 21 panchayats have been affected, forcing people to struggle for drinking water amid scorching heat.
According to local residents, the disruption in water supply is reportedly due to a power supply failure. However, villagers are angry as the issue has remained unresolved for two consecutive days. Panic-like conditions have emerged in several villages and panchayat areas, with many households running out of even basic drinking water.
Women, children and elderly people are facing the worst difficulties because of the crisis. Villagers alleged that administrative claims remain limited to paperwork while the ground reality continues to worsen.
Enraged by the situation, villagers have now started protesting on roads. In several places, people came out carrying utensils and empty pots while raising slogans against the administration. Protesters accused officials of repeatedly using technical faults and power cuts as excuses to avoid responsibility.
Local residents said that the matter has also been brought to the attention of the Chief Minister through social media posts, but the water supply has still not been restored. Villagers alleged that schemes built with crores of rupees are collapsing at the ground level, leaving basic facilities in poor condition.
Villagers warned that if water supply is not restored immediately, the agitation will intensify further. They also demanded that the administration arrange alternative water supply facilities on an urgent basis to provide relief to affected families.
