Seraikela Police Register Case Against Accused Under Chandil Police Station
A violent attack on Shankar Mahato, his driver Salim Patel, and companion Kalicharan Mahato occurred last night over a tribal land dispute in Pardih Kali Mandir Asanbani village, under Chandil police station in Seraikela district.
JAMSHEDPUR – Shankar Mahato, along with his car driver Salim Patel and companion Kalicharan Mahato, was attacked last night in a dispute over the occupation of tribal land in Pardih Kali Mandir Asanbani village, under the jurisdiction of Chandil police station in Seraikela district.
Salim Patel, who is currently receiving treatment at TMH, provided a statement leading to a case being registered at Chandil police station.
The accused include alleged three land mafia members, along with 10 others, who are charged with attempted murder.
According to reports, one accused is evading arrest by staying under the protection of a prominent temple’s Baba.
The victim has also reported this issue to Chief Minister Champai Soren, mentioning a week-long dispute between Shankar Mahato and others over the sale of tribal land.
It is learnt that the accused had previously threatened Shankar’s life regarding this matter.
It is alleged that the land mafia is profiting from the sale of land in the area, which Shankar Mahato opposes.
On the night of the attack, Salim Patel, a resident of Azad Nagar Road No. 3, was traveling with Shankar Mahato and Kalicharan Mahato in a car (JH-05CF-4279) in search of laborers.
They were ambushed, and a violent attack ensued.
"The situation is critical, and we are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice," said a police officer.
The incident highlights the ongoing issues of land disputes and the dangers faced by those opposing land mafias.
