Congress Leader’s Visit Marks Initiation of Party’s Election Drive in the State

Rahul Gandhi, prominent Congress MP, is set to launch the party’s election campaign in Jharkhand with a rally in Gumla’s Basia on May 7. The former Congress president’s visit aims to garner support for the party’s candidates contesting the Khunti and Lohardaga Lok Sabha seats.

RANCHI – Rahul Gandhi will start his party’s election campaign in Jharkhand with a rally on May 7 in Gumla’s Basia.

Sonal Shanti, the Congress state spokesperson, has confirmed that Rahul Gandhi’s election meeting will take place in Basia, Gumla, where he will seek the public’s blessings for the party’s nominees in Khunti and Lohardaga constituencies.

The announcement of Gandhi’s probable visit has already sparked a war of words between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress in the state.

A BJP state spokesperson has declared that the public is prepared to confront Rahul Gandhi and demand an explanation for Jharkhand’s alleged destruction during the Congress rule.

Congress Heavyweights to Follow Rahul Gandhi’s Lead

Following Rahul Gandhi’s visit, the Jharkhand Congress plans to finalize the election programs of other prominent leaders, including AICC National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi, and Bhupesh Baghel, among others.

The state spokesperson emphasized that these high-profile visits will further bolster the party’s campaign efforts across Jharkhand.

RJD to Focus on Palamu, Tejashwi Yadav to Campaign

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), although only contesting the Palamu Lok Sabha seat in Jharkhand, has received requests for election meetings by its top leaders, including former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and party supremo Lalu Prasad, in various constituencies as part of the India alliance.

Anita Yadav, the state vice president of RJD in Jharkhand, mentioned that while Lalu Yadav’s health might prevent him from campaigning, Tejashwi Yadav is expected to visit Palamu and other Lok Sabha constituencies. The schedule for Tejashwi Yadav’s Palamu tour is currently being finalized.

JMM Leaders to Play Crucial Role in Campaign

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is also putting its best foot forward to achieve a strong performance in the Lok Sabha elections. Chief Minister Champai Soren and Kalpana Soren, wife of former CM Hemant Soren, will actively campaign for JMM and the India Alliance.

Additionally, JMM MLAs and MPs have been assigned responsibilities to contribute to the party’s election campaign efforts.
