Tata Steel UISL Unveils Ambitious Expansion Plans for Jamshedpur’s Infrastructure

MD Rituraj Sinha Outlines Commitment to Providing Water, Electricity, and Cleanliness Services

Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (Tata Steel UISL), formerly known as JUSCO, has announced its plans to expand its services across Jamshedpur, aiming to provide essential amenities to underserved areas.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a press conference held at Beldih Club, Tata Steel UISL MD Rituraj Sinha outlined the company’s ambitious goals to ensure access to tap water for every household in Jamshedpur by 2025.

To achieve this objective, Tata Steel UISL has established three water treatment plants, with two located in the Ramadhin Bagan area and one in Bhuinyadih, set to commence form distribution in July 2024.

Sinha highlighted the ongoing efforts to provide water connections in various regions of Jamshedpur, including JEMCO Azad Basti, JEMCO Basti, Laxminagar, Namda Basti, Mahanand Basti, Harijan Basti, and Cable Town in the east, as well as Sonari Domuhani Area, Pratima Nagar, Shivnagar, Kapali Basti, Balram Basti, Kanhu Basti Zone, and Ramjanamnagar in the west.

Despite challenges in form completion and submission, Tata Steel UISL remains committed to fulfilling all water connection requests promptly.

Emphasizing the importance of reliable electricity supply, Sinha discussed the company’s efforts to provide electricity connections, even in areas with government-supplied power, to ensure consistent access.

However, he acknowledged the challenges faced due to the reluctance of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) to collaborate in this endeavor.

Sinha also stressed the significance of cleanliness initiatives in enhancing the quality of life for residents, with Tata Steel UISL actively working to bolster these efforts across Jamshedpur.

The company has undertaken substantial road widening projects, including the installation of dividers to optimize available space.

Addressing the lack of facilities in Jamshedpur’s markets, Sinha advocated for the adoption of the smart city concept, emphasizing the need for market redevelopment, particularly in Bistupur and Sakchi, to facilitate basement development and resolve parking issues.

He also highlighted the potential for integrating solar panels to meet energy requirements.

Solid waste management, especially food waste, was identified as a primary concern, prompting Tata Steel UISL to establish modular biogas plants in several hotels and restaurants, with plans for further expansion and the development of three additional plants for processing biodegradable waste.
