JAMSHEDPUR – The race for the new East Singhbhum District Congress president saw fresh drama as members of the Parashuram family entered the scene during party consultations at the local Circuit House.
On Saturday morning, Kamal Kishore, a retired police officer, arrived with senior members including Nakul Tiwari, D.K. Mishra, Harendra Mishra, and Ajay Ojha. They met district observer and Gujarat MLA Anant Patel. Former state Congress president Pradeep Balmuchu and other contenders were also present.
Kishore highlighted the organizational strength of his group and the role of Brahmins as a decisive vote bank in Jamshedpur. He argued that the Congress should appoint a Brahmin as district chief to strengthen its position in the region.
Although several Brahmin leaders are in the running, Kishore and his associates openly pitched for incumbent Anand Bihari Dubey. They described him as energetic, resourceful, popular across communities, and experienced through his time in the JMM.
Supporters stressed Dubey’s work in revitalizing the party, including renovation of the nearly century-old Tilak Pustakalaya building at Bistupur. They claimed his leadership could revive Congress fortunes in Jamshedpur East, where the party has not won since 1985.
Witnesses noted Kishore’s commanding style as he spoke, drawing comparisons to his past police service. Some present also speculated about his future potential in law or politics.
