Major Naxalite Arms Cache Seized Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

Security Forces Uncover Explosives in West Singhbhum Ahead of Elections

In a significant development just before the Lok Sabha elections, security forces have achieved a major breakthrough in their operations against Naxalites in the Kolhan forest, West Singhbhum district.

CHAIBASA – In an ongoing effort to curb Naxalite activities, a large cache of explosive materials was uncovered by security forces in the remote Rajabasa forest under the jurisdiction of Tonto police station.

This operation marks the second consecutive day of successful raids in this area, highlighting the intensified security measures ahead of the upcoming elections.

Critical Recovery

The raids led to the recovery of 7,050 detonators, bomb-making materials, and wires, all hidden by Naxalites.

These explosives were reportedly stashed under an old campsite within the Rajabasa forest.

The operation was based on confidential information and was conducted jointly by the CRPF 60 Battalion, Jharkhand Jaguar, and District Police.

Implications for Election Security

The discovery of such a significant quantity of explosives has heightened security concerns as the region prepares for the Lok Sabha elections.

It has been disclosed that the recovered detonators were originally stolen by the Naxalites from various locations during the Ram Navami festival in 2023.

The looted materials were cunningly concealed in a water tank buried in the forest before being discovered by the security forces.

For safety reasons, all recovered detonators were subsequently destroyed.

Comprehensive Response

This operation saw the involvement of multiple teams, including Chaibasa Police, CRPF 60 Battalion, and additional battalions like the 172nd, 174th, 197th, and 193rd.

These collaborative efforts underline the extensive preparations and vigilance of the security forces to ensure the electoral process is not disrupted by extremist activities.

The successful neutralization of these threats plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and security, ensuring that the democratic process can proceed without interference.
