Islamic militants behead more than 50 at Mozambique football ground

Bengaluru: In a shocking and ghastly development, Islamic militants beheaded and killed more than 50 people in Northern part of Mozambique. According to news emanating from Mozambique, all the beheadings were done on a football ground of a village. The Islamists beheaded the innocent persons and then mutilated the dead bodies too.

In another adjoining village too, several persons were beheaded.

This is not the first instance of Islamist attack in the country. The state Cabo Delgado has witnessed such brutality from Islamists even earlier.

The state is Muslim-majority one and more than 3000 people have been killed in the violence in recent years.

Most of the Islamist militants owe allegiance to IS groups, which is responsible for wreaking a reign of terror in the entire country.

A large number of youths have joined the IS responding to the call of establishing Islamic rule in the area.

According to reports, the militants chanting “Allahu Akbar” attacked the village on Friday night and then beheaded all the persons they could lay their hands on.

Another group went to another village and beheaded more than 50 people.

The country’s government has sought international intervention to fight the insurgency and has said that its troops need help as well as better training to take on the militants.
