BJP and JMM Workers Scuffle During Election Campaign in Gamharia
BJP Leader Deepak Prakash Alleges ‘Attack’ on BJP Candidate Geeta Koda
A scuffle broke out between workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) during campaigning in Mohanpur, Gamharia, in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Sunday, April 14.
GAMHARIA – BJP candidate Geeta Koda had reached Mohanpur in the Rapcha Panchayat to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections when the incident occurred.
Some people in the crowd were seen armed with sticks and traditional weapons during the clash, which involved fierce sloganeering against both the state and central governments.
BJP Leader Deepak Prakash’s Reaction
Deepak Prakash, BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member, reacted sharply to the incident, alleging a ‘serious attack’ on BJP candidate Geeta Koda by JMM.
In a statement on X, he said, “Seeing their defeat approaching in all the 14 Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand, the people of INDI Thug Bandhan have gone mad and in this frenzy today, an attempt was made to murder BJP candidate of Singhbhum Lok Sabha, Smt. Geeta Koda by JMM goons in Mohanpur, Gamharia, which is very unfortunate.
Ongoing Dispute and Police Intervention
The controversy between the two parties has not subsided, with police from the Gamharia police station reaching the spot to control the situation.
Some locals reportedly expressed their disappointment with Geeta Koda, claiming she had not visited the area once in the past five years despite their support in the previous election.
The Singhbhum (ST) Lok Sabha seat, under which Gamharia falls, is scheduled to go to polls on May 13.
