Dhanbad Lok Sabha Seat: BJP Replaces 3-Time MP PN Singh with MLA Dhulu Mahato
Baghmara MLA Prevails Over Strong Contenders for LS Ticket
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has denied a ticket to its three-time Dhanbad MP PN Singh, who secured the highest number of votes in Jharkhand during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In his place, the party has named Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahato as its candidate for the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat.

RANCHI – Dhulu Mahato, who has been winning the assembly elections from Baghmara for three consecutive terms, managed to secure the BJP ticket by defeating more than half a dozen contenders, including Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha, outgoing Mayor Chandrashekhar Aggarwal, Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan, and other prominent leaders.
Despite Baghmara assembly constituency not being a part of the Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency, Mahato’s successful track record and influence within the party helped him secure the ticket. The decision to replace PN Singh is being attributed to his advancing age.
Mixed Reactions to Mahato’s Candidature
While rural areas are celebrating Dhulu Mahato’s nomination, BJP supporters in urban areas have maintained a cautious silence. Prominent BJP leaders have also refrained from commenting on the decision.
Kshatriya Community Expresses Displeasure Over Lack of Representation
The Kshatriya community in Jharkhand has expressed strong displeasure over the lack of representation in the BJP’s list of candidates for the state’s 13 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats. The community, which constitutes about 7 percent of the state’s population, feels neglected by the NDA alliance.
The All India Kshatriya Samaj has called for a meeting on March 29 to discuss the issue and decide on their future course of action. The community has also pointed out the absence of Kshatriya representation in the state government’s cabinet.
