Electricity Subsidy Expanded to 125 Units Free for Jharkhand Residents

Free Electricity Cap Raised to 125 Units for Domestic Consumers

Jharkhand’s cabinet decision to increase free electricity from 100 to 125 units per month marks a significant move for domestic users, aiming to extend benefits to more consumers.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand cabinet, under Chief Minister Champai Soren, has approved a notable enhancement on electricity front. As promised earlier, the domestic consumers will now enjoy a higher free electricity limit.

This move raises the cap from 100 to 125 units monthly.

There were several other crucial decisions too.

The cabinet has approved the implementation of The High Court of Jharkhand Guidelines.

These guidelines focus on Recording Evidence of Vulnerable Witness 2024.

On the other hand, approval for installation of 4G network-based e-PoS machines was also given.

This upgrade is part of the Public Distribution System Computerization scheme.

Similarly, under the State Plan, significant funding has been allocated. This is for the establishment of new dairy and milk processing plants. A total expenditure of Rs 16019.00 lakh has been approved for these initiatives.

The cabinet has also sanctioned Rs 63.72 crore for the purchase of 4G e-PoS devices. Additionally, Rs 28.67 crore has been allocated for their annual maintenance.

Among the 29 proposals cleared was the setting up of dairy plants. These plants are to be located in Giridih and Jamshedpur.

Now, the number of electricity beneficiaries would increase to 29,15,951. Currently, as many as 21,72,331 consumers are availing the benefit.

Cabinet Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh highlighted the consumer benefit increase. Chief Minister Champai Soren had announced this cap hike earlier.

Technology and Infrastructure Investments

Investments on Technology too would be hiked now. This initiative aims to replace outdated 2G e-PoS machines. Nearly 27,000 fair-price shops across Jharkhand will see upgrades.

Dairy Development and Agricultural Support

The agricultural sector is set to receive a substantial boost too. New dairy plants in Giridih and Jamshedpur will support local farmers as per the latest cabinet decision.
