Prohibition Order Enforced to Combat Youth Drug Addiction
Ranchi district has banned the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions to curb youth drug addiction.
RANCHI – To protect the youth from drug addiction, Ranchi district has enforced a ban on the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products within 100 yards of all educational institutions.
Ranchi Sadar SDO Utkarsh Kumar has implemented this prohibition order using powers under Section 144.
According to the issued information, the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products within 100 yards of any educational institution is now banned under the COTPA Act.
This includes all private and government schools, colleges, and universities.
The prohibitory order will be in effect for the next 60 days.
Violators will face action from the administration.
"The implementation of this order is crucial to ensure a healthier environment for our students," said a senior official.
This move aims to significantly reduce the accessibility of tobacco products to students and discourage drug addiction among the youth.
The administration has urged all citizens to cooperate and adhere to the new regulations to help maintain a safe and healthy community.
