Tatanagar Incident Leads to Railway Safety and Compensation Probe
DRM orders investigation into the death of railway worker Shivshankar Bera at Tatanagar, promising job and compensation to the family.
JAMSHEDPUR – An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the death of Shivshankar Bera, a railway worker, at Tatanagar.
DRM Arun J Rathore has called for a thorough review of the incident, which occurred as Bera was moving a locomotive to the shunting line near the Tatanagar railway station’s loco shed.
The inquiry will include an examination of the employment of Bera, who had been with the railway for approximately 50 days, and how he came to be under the locomotive.
Bera, a 45-year-old resident of Nandigram, West Bengal, passed away on Friday.
Following his death, his family engaged with railway officials to discuss the incident.
They met with Senior DEE Binod Kumar, during which discussions about government-provided jobs and compensation took place.
The railway has a standing provision for offering compensation and employment to the families of workers who die on duty.
This move underscores the railway’s commitment to worker safety and support for families affected by workplace accidents.
