CM felicitates Nikki Pradhan and Salima Tete, hands over Rs. 50 lakh cheque to each

Two players of Indian Olympic Women Hockey team reached home and were accorded a warm welcome. Each would get a house in a preferred city as well as several other facilities.

Ranchi: The two women hockey players from Jharkhand, who were a part of the Olympic team have arrived in the state today.

The Chief Minister Hemant Soren felicitated them and also handed over Rs. 50 lakh cheque to each of them. Both would also get a house in urban area and several other amenities. An announcement was made to this effect by the CM.

The chief minister handed over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh besides a scooter, a laptop and a smart phone to each of them.

The CM said that the government would gift both the players a house in the city of their choice.

The government will bear the full cost of treatment of players injured in sports competitions. The sports department is constantly preparing new schemes and many steps are being taken to promote sports and players.

The CM said that the people of the state are proud of the excellent performances of Ms. Salima Tate and Ms Nikki Pradhan at the Tokyo Olympics

He said that the government is taking initiative to give honour and respect to the players. He said that players need to be treated with respect and sensitivity.

He said that amidst limited resources there, the boys and girls of the state are earning honour and respect for the state and the country by their excellent performance in the world of sports.

The Chief Minister said that these two daughters from Jharkhand have put on an excellent show of sporting skill at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Indian women’s hockey team may not have won a medal, but the way they have set their example against the world’s best hockey playing nations is no less than a medal.

The countrymen including Jharkhand are proud of them, he said.

The Chief Minister wished these girls a bright future and wished them all the best for their sport.

The Chief Minister said the state is now moving fast to build its identity in sports as well. The government is gradually taking steps in that direction in the interest of sports and players. It is just the beginning and more will come in the coming days.

For the first time since the formation of the state, sports officials have been appointed. Players who have done well in national and international competitions are being recruited directly. Forty players have been recruited so far.

CM Hemant Soren at the felicitation funciton organised to welcome Nikki Pradhan and Salima Tete in Ranchi on Wednesday.

Players are being rewarded and honored. Astro turf stadiums are being set up in every panchayat, the purpose of which is to allocate all the facilities to increase the skills of the boys and girls here.

He said that the players are being provided a platform to showcase their skills, so that they can earn the respect of the state and country by the force of their great example.

The Chief Minister said the exercise of opening residential centers and day boarding for various sports is underway.

The government will pay five hundred rupees per day to the players selected for day boarding training.

Both centers will have expert coaches to train the players.

The Chief Minister further said that the entire cost of treatment of players injured for any reason during sports competitions would be borne by the government. The sports department is preparing provisions in this regard.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister wrote a congratulatory message on the hockey stick for the two players, giving autographs to Ms. Nikki Pradhan and Ms. Salima Tete.
