Tata Steel’s Vijay II Iron Ore Mine receives 10 awards for exemplary safety and operational practices at the 61st Annual Metalliferous Mines Safety Week.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Vijay II Iron Ore Mine, a part of Tata Steel’s Ore Mines and Quarries Division, has been recognized for its exceptional commitment to mining operations and safety.
At the 61st Annual Metalliferous Mines Safety Week Celebration 2023, the mine excelled, winning 10 awards in various categories.
This event, marking the culmination of the safety week, took place on January 21, 2024, in Ranchi, hosted by M/s Hindalco Industries Limited.
Prabhat Kumar, the DGMS of Dhanbad, and S D Chiddarwar, Dy. DGMS (South Eastern Zone), graced the event, along with other dignitaries and officials.
Vijay II Iron Ore Mine’s achievements include the prestigious 1st prize in critical categories like Illumination, workshop and electrical safety; Accident, emergency Preparedness & Mock drills; and Implementation of SMP & SOP.
The mine’s dedication to safety and best practices also earned it the 2nd prize in Publicity & Propaganda and categories covering Drilling & Blasting, Explosive handling, and Plant operation & Maintenance.
These honors not only celebrate the mine’s operational excellence but also its adherence to stringent safety standards and effective training programs.
