Babulal Marandi Meets Governor, Accuses CM of Creating Constitutional Crisis
Marandi Meets Governor, Alleges Unconstitutional Moves by Hemant Soren Government
BJP State President Babulal Marandi met Governor CP Radhakrishnan to discuss the current political situation in Jharkhand, expressing concerns over unconstitutional actions.
RANCHI – BJP State President Babulal Marandi accused Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren of emulating former Bihar CM Lalu Yadav’s strategy.
Marandi claimed Soren is planning to appoint his wife, Kalpana Soren, as Chief Minister, mirroring Yadav’s move of making Rabri Devi CM.
He highlighted the resignation of Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed from the Gandey assembly seat, suggesting it was orchestrated by the party for political maneuvering.
Marandi emphasized the legal constraints against re-elections within a year, as per Supreme Court guidelines, making the Gandey seat election untenable.
He pointed out that there are only two usual reasons for an MLA to vacate a seat: party disputes or health issues, neither of which applied in Dr. Ahmed’s case.
Marandi met with Governor CP Radhakrishnan to discuss these concerns, focusing on the impracticality of holding elections on the Gandey seat.
He also refuted the possibility of elections in Gandey, given the less than one-year tenure remaining before the assembly elections.
Marandi, addressing the media, revealed that he had previously corresponded with the Governor on these issues before Radhakrishnan’s departure.
He reiterated the unconstitutionality of holding a by-election in Gandey, citing the upcoming model code of conduct and scheduled December elections.
Marandi’s meeting with Governor Radhakrishnan included discussions on the Hemant Soren government’s actions, which he termed as creating a constitutional crisis.
