First Jharkhand Med College to Start SD/SW NCC Training

Manipal Tata Medical College pioneers NCC training for medical students, enhancing leadership and national service skills.

JAMSHEDPUR – Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) in Jamshedpur has set a new precedent in Jharkhand by initiating NCC training for medical students.

54 cadets have been enrolled for Service Division (SD) and Special Weapons (SW) training, a first for a medical college in the state.

This initiative is part of the Fully Self-Financing Scheme (FSFS) and is managed by 37 Jhar Bn NCC, Jamshedpur.

The move aims to instill a sense of national service and readiness among MTMC students.

Cadets will undergo rigorous training in leadership, discipline, and military skills.

Dr. Rajiva Dwivedi, Director of Academic Administration and Quality at MTMC, emphasized the program’s value in enhancing academic and personal development.

The training will cover a broad spectrum of skills, including drill exercises, map reading, weapon handling, first aid, and disaster management.

This comprehensive approach is designed to prepare cadets for a variety of future roles.

The first batch of cadets is set to begin their training on April 1, 2024.

MTMC’s commitment to this program underscores its dedication to holistic education and societal contributions.

The college is a part of the esteemed Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), known for its excellence in medical education and healthcare.
