Intense Heat Wave Strikes Jharkhand: Red Alerts Issued

High Temperatures and Humidity Impact Multiple Districts in Jharkhand

Jharkhand, including the Kolhan region, is experiencing an intense heat wave, prompting the issuance of red alerts in several districts.

RANCHI – The heat wave sweeping across Jharkhand has led to soaring temperatures and heightened humidity, affecting numerous areas including Kolhan.

On Tuesday, extreme heat conditions were reported in Garhwa, Palamu, Saraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, and West Singhbhum.

Rising temperatures also impacted Ranchi, Ramgarh, and Khunti.

Particularly hard-hit were Saraikela and Daltonganj, where temperatures reached a staggering 45.4 degrees Celsius.

In Jamshedpur, temperatures climbed to 44.4 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature recorded at 30.2 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has issued a series of alerts in response to these conditions.

Red alerts have been issued for Garhwa, Palamu, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan on June 12 and 13.

Additionally, Chatra and Latehar are under orange alerts, and several other districts have been issued yellow alerts.

Looking forward, June 14 will see red alerts for West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela, while Garhwa and Palamu will remain under orange alerts.

By June 15, Garhwa and Palamu will be under red alerts, and East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan will be under orange alerts.

In light of these extreme conditions, residents are advised to take precautionary measures to stay safe.

Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has stressed the importance of staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seeking immediate medical help if symptoms of heat-related illnesses are observed.

The local administration is actively monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates to ensure public safety and health during this period of severe heat.
