Severe Heat Wave Continues to Scorch Jharkhand

Meteorological Department issues warnings as temperatures soar above 40 degrees Celsius.

Jharkhand faces severe heat wave conditions with temperatures above 40°C and an orange alert issued for several districts.

RANCHI – Jharkhand is enduring an unrelenting heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius across many districts.

Despite the anticipation of rain, the Meteorological Department has predicted severe heat wave conditions for several areas over the next two days.

The Meteorological Center in Ranchi has issued an orange alert for June 15, Saturday, warning of severe heat wave conditions in Garhwa, Palamu, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and East Singhbhum.

Additionally, Simdega, Gumla, Ranchi, Khunti, Lohardaga, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Chatra, Latehar, Koderma, and Ramgarh are also likely to face heat wave conditions.

Looking ahead to June 16, Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Latehar, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela are expected to remain under the heat wave, with other districts possibly seeing some relief.

However, from June 15 to 17, thunderstorms are forecasted in various parts of the state, including Ranchi and Gumla, with an orange alert for potential wind speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour.

Despite expectations, the monsoon has yet to reach Jharkhand, with further delays reported by the Meteorological Department.

While forecasts had suggested the monsoon would arrive around June 17, scientists now speculate that it may enter Jharkhand by June 18 or 19, as it currently lingers over Bengal.

A Meteorological Department expert advised, "Residents should take necessary precautions during the severe heat wave conditions and stay updated on weather forecasts for any changes."
