RANCHI – Jharkhand, including the Kolhan region, continues to suffer from extreme heat and high temperatures, compelling residents to stay indoors during the afternoons.
Daltonganj recorded the highest temperature on Friday at 45.2 degrees Celsius, while Jamshedpur saw a maximum of 43.4 degrees and a minimum of 29.0 degrees.
West Singhbhum, Saraikela, and Ranchi experienced temperatures of 41.4, 44.2, and 40.0 degrees Celsius respectively.
With the monsoon remaining sluggish, the Meteorological Department predicts its potential arrival by June 18.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Saturday due to heatwave conditions expected in Garhwa, Palamu, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela Kharsawan districts.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for Koderma, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, and Simdega districts.
A Meteorological Department official commented, "We urge residents to take necessary precautions and avoid exposure during peak afternoon hours."
