Monsoon rains continue across Jharkhand

Rainfall recorded in several districts, Ranchi gets 3.4 mm

RANCHI – The India Meteorological Department, Ranchi centre, has released the latest realised weather report for August 31, 2025.

The state continued to witness widespread rainfall activity in the past 24 hours.

Temperature conditions

The highest maximum temperature was recorded at SaraiKela AWS at 35.9°C.

The lowest minimum temperature was registered at Latehar AWS at 21.3°C.

In Ranchi, the maximum temperature was 31.8°C, which was 2.6°C above normal.

The minimum temperature in Ranchi stood at 23.6°C, showing a rise of 1.2°C from normal.

Jamshedpur recorded a maximum of 33.1°C, which was 0.6°C higher than normal, while the minimum was 25.1°C, 0.8°C above normal.

Bokaro-Thermal saw a maximum of 33.4°C, with a deviation of +1.0°C, and a minimum of 24.5°C.

Daltonganj registered 33.8°C maximum, 1.2°C above normal, and 25.4°C minimum.

Chaibasa recorded the highest among observatories with 34.4°C maximum.

Rainfall activity

The highest rainfall was observed at Panchet DVC (Dhanbad) with 13.8 mm.

Ranchi city reported 3.4 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Boram received 11.6 mm, while Saryu recorded 10.8 mm.

Other places such as Mandar, Pachet, Karmatand, Ranchi Aero and Daltonganj also recorded rain.

Jharkhand as a whole recorded 0.6 mm average rainfall in the past 24 hours, against the normal of 6.4 mm, showing a -90% departure.

Seasonal rainfall status

From June 1 to August 31, 2025, Jharkhand has received 798.8 mm rainfall against the normal of 878.2 mm.

This reflects a cumulative deficit of -9%.

District rainfall distribution shows large excess in West Singhbhum (+59%), Dumka (+26%), Bokaro (+27%), while Palamu (-23%), Chatra (-26%), and Lohardaga (-23%) remain deficient.

The state-level rain distribution map indicates that most districts fall in the deficit to normal range, with some registering large excess.

Visibility was reported lowest at Jamshedpur with 1500 m.

The Meteorological Department has advised close monitoring of rainfall and temperature variations in the coming days as the monsoon season progresses.
