H5N1 Avian Influenza Confirmed in Chickens in Ranchi; Ban on Poultry Trade Imposed
Bird flu has resurfaced in Jharkhand, prompting state-wide alerts and heightened vigilance from the Health Department and Animal Husbandry Department.
RANCHI – Bird flu has re-emerged in Jharkhand, with a new case confirmed in Ranchi. The chickens in Morabadi, Ranchi, tested positive for H5N1 avian influenza.
Samples from the Ashram area were sent to ICAR Bhopal for testing, and the results confirmed the presence of bird flu.
In response to this confirmation, authorities have imposed a ban on the purchase and sale of live or dead poultry, poultry products, and eggs within a one-kilometer radius of Ramakrishna Mission Morabadi in Ranchi.
Additionally, transportation of these items has been halted until further notice.
This is not the first time bird flu has been confirmed in Ranchi. Following earlier suspicions, samples were sent to Bhopal for testing, leading to the current confirmed case.
The detection of bird flu has triggered an alert across Jharkhand, with the Health and Animal Husbandry Departments taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
The public is advised to follow guidelines and report any unusual poultry deaths to authorities.
