JAMSHEDPUR – Thongkhosiem Haokip, popularly known as Semboi, has become an integral part of Jamshedpur FC, contributing significantly with his creativity and consistency.

Hailing from Manipur, Semboi’s football journey is a blend of cherished memories and realized dreams.

His earliest football experiences were marked by games on the dusty grounds of his village, where he cultivated his love for the sport.

Reflecting on those days, Semboi shares, "I have a lot of fond memories from playing football. I’m a huge football fan. There isn’t anything else that I love more than football."

A pivotal moment in his early career was his selection for the U-17 Manipur squad in the National School Games, a step that solidified his ambitions.

Semboi recalls, "We went for the state-level championship to get selected for the state team. Putting on Manipur’s jersey was a dream."

Back then, the focus was purely on representing Manipur, with professional leagues like the I-League and ISL appearing as distant aspirations.
