Jamshedpur Hosts Chief Minister’s Invitation Cup Football Tournament
Jharkhand’s District-Level Football Event Kicks Off in Jamshedpur
The third phase of the Chief Minister’s Invitation Cup football tournament began in Jamshedpur, showcasing local sports talent.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Tinplate Sports Complex in Jamshedpur was abuzz with excitement as the third phase of the Chief Minister’s Invitation Cup football competition kicked off on Wednesday at 10:00 am.
Organized under the joint aegis of the Tourism, Art, Culture, sports, and Youth Affairs Department of Jharkhand, Ranchi, and the District Administration of East Singhbhum, the event marked a significant moment in local sports.
Sub-Divisional Officer Piyush Kumar Sinha (Indian Administrative Service) graced the event as the chief guest, inaugurating the district-level tournament.
After interacting with the players and initiating the matches with a ceremonial kick, Sinha expressed his best wishes for the participants.
He also applauded the sports branch for the event’s seamless organization.
A special segment of the program featured the felicitation of outstanding players, sports trainers, and officials from East Singhbhum district.
These individuals, recognized for their achievements in national and international competitions, were honored with shawls.
Notably, 12 players from the roll ball game who excelled at the 37th National Games in Goa, as well as medalists from the 22nd Asian Master Athletic Championships in the Philippines, were among the honorees.
Additionally, Dr. Hasan Imam Malik, Manager Sports at Tata Steel Jamshedpur, and Jitendra Bahadur Singh, a former international footballer and current coach, received special recognition.
Men’s teams from all 11 blocks of the district competed in the three-day tournament.
The first day’s matches saw intense competition:
– Gudabandha defeated Musabani with a score of 2-0.
– Chakulia triumphed over Jamshedpur with a 1-0 victory.
– Ghatshila secured a win against Dumariya, also with a 2-0 score.
– Bodam block’s team won against Potka with a 2-0 score.
– Chakulia emerged victorious against Baharagora with a 1-0 score.
– Gudabandha clinched a 1-0 victory over Dhalbhumgarh.
– In a tiebreaker, the Patmada team beat Ghatshila 5-3.
The semi-finals will see teams from Godown and Chakulia blocks in the first match, and Gudabandha and Patmada blocks in the second.
Key contributors to the tournament’s success include Ajay Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Manish Jonko, Hrishikesh Barik, sports teacher Shyam Kumar Sharma, W Rahman, teacher Madiya Soren, Pooja Sharma, Veer Pratap Murmu, Pitho Soren, and other football game teachers and judges.
