District officials outline comprehensive plan for updating electoral rolls

East Singhbhum district gears up for a month-long voter list revision program aimed at ensuring an accurate and inclusive electoral process.

JAMSHEDPUR – District Election Officer Mittal Ananya led a crucial meeting to prepare for the second special voter list revision program scheduled from June 25 to July 24, 2024.

"This initiative is vital for maintaining an accurate and current electoral roll," Mittal emphasized during the briefing.

The program, mandated by the Election Commission, sets July 1, 2024, as the eligibility date for new voters.

Assistant Returning Officers from all six assembly constituencies outlined the procedural framework for the revision process.

"Door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers is a key component of this program," an electoral official stated.

The revision aims to register left-out voters, verify EPIC cards, update outdated photo IDs, and enroll new eligible voters.

Officials will also assess polling stations, identifying those with over 1500 voters for potential upgrades or relocation.

Political party representatives were urged to cooperate fully in ensuring no eligible voter is excluded from the revised list.

The program includes updating records for voters who have shifted residences or are deceased.

This initiative is seen as a critical step in strengthening the democratic process in East Singhbhum district.
