Muharram Procession Peacefully Commemorates Martyrs of Karbala in Ghatshila
The festival of Muharram, observed in remembrance of the Karbala martyrs, was peacefully celebrated in Ghatshila on Saturday. A Muharram procession was conducted through a pre-planned route.
GHATSHILA – The Muharram, a festival mourning the martyrs of Karbala, was peacefully observed in Ghatshila this Saturday. A procession, led by licensed maestros, was taken out on a predetermined route.
The procession comprised of five Akhada committees from Ghatshila, Phulpal, Maubhandar, Sadpura, and Nawab Kothi.
They marched through the main city of Ghatshila, ultimately reaching the Muslim township. From there, all five processions came together for a grand parade, marked by music and performances.
Spectacular displays such as sword fighting and stick play, a part of the English game, were a part of the procession.
The procession from the Ghatshila Muslim Basti was led by licensees Sheikh Farooq and Sheikh Matlub, with Sheikh Harun serving as the secretary.
