Anticipatory Bail Hearing in Sunil Kumar Pillai Case Postponed Again
The hearing for anticipatory bail in the Sunil Kumar Pillai suicide case has been postponed for the second time.
JAMSHEDPUR – The case of Sunil Kumar Pillai, a senior railway technician from Tatanagar who committed suicide on July 18, has seen another postponement in the hearing of the anticipatory bail issue.
The court has rescheduled the hearing to July 31.
Om Prakash Kasera, the accused allegedly responsible for coercing Pillai into suicide, was set to have his advance bail hearing today in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajendra Kumar Sinha.
However, the argument on the anticipatory bail could not proceed as the case diary pertaining to the incident was not sent by the Bagbera police to the court.
This was the second instance of the hearing being postponed due to the absence of the case diary from the police station.
Today, the defense counsel claimed that the accused is innocent and argued for the granting of anticipatory bail.
However, the public prosecutor requested the judge to consider the application for anticipatory bail only after the case diary is received.
It should be noted that there are seven named accused in this case, including Om Prakash Kasera, R.K. Singh, Senior Section Engineer Land Tatanagar, Kalyan and Nandu of the same department, S.K. Pandey, G.K. Rai, and Armendra of RPF.
Of these, only Omprakash Kasera has applied for anticipatory bail.
