Temporary Halt of Chhota Govindpur Water Supply for Pipeline Repair
The Chhota Govindpur Rural Water Supply Scheme will temporarily discontinue water supply from July 19 to July 22, to address a major pipeline breach.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Executive Engineer has announced a temporary disruption to the Chhota Govindpur Rural Water Supply Scheme. Effective from July 19 to July 22, the break in water provision is necessary to carry out repairs on a main pipeline breach.
The departmental notification clarifies that while the repair works are in progress, localities will experience an interruption in their water supply. However, once the repairs are completed, daily water supply will resume as normal.
The issue was also addressed by the Deputy Commissioner, who was apprised of the situation at the Janata Darbar. He promptly authorized department staff to rectify the problem. A team led by SDO Dhalbhum has been formed to oversee the urgent repairs.
Resident of Rahargoda, Deepak Kumar, highlighted the persistent challenges of the Chhota Govindpur water supply scheme, which has faced issues five years since its inception. The scheme was originally designed to provide clean drinking water to nearly three lakh residents spread across 127 villages and 23 panchayats in the Jamshedpur block area.
