JAMSHEDPUR – Late on Wednesday night, Sandeep Rajak, a Home Guard jawan, committed suicide by hanging at his residence on Sankosai Road No. 2 in the Ulidih police station area.
Rajak used a scarf to end his life.
The local police promptly arrived at the scene following the incident.
They prepared a ‘Panchnama’ of the body and sent it to MGM Medical College for a post-mortem examination.
Sandeep Rajak had been married for only six months, having tied the knot in December 2023.
Reports indicate that he had been experiencing significant stress since his marriage.
His father, Naresh Rajak, revealed that Sandeep had been grappling with this stress but had not disclosed the specifics despite numerous inquiries from his family.
The Rajak family is in deep shock and mourning the loss of Sandeep.
Naresh Rajak expressed his grief, mentioning his attempts to understand the cause of his son’s distress, but Sandeep remained silent about his troubles.
This tragic incident underscores the urgent need for mental health support and intervention, particularly for those in high-stress professions like the Home Guard service.
Sandeep was initially posted at Azadnagar police station before being transferred to MGM hospital.
Unfortunately, he did not join his new duty post before taking his own life.
The police, after conducting a post-mortem at MGM Medical College, handed over his body to the grieving family on Thursday.
The family continues to be deeply shocked and saddened by their loss.
