Railways Halts Machine Digging Under Rail Line for Bagbera Water Supply

Rural Water Supply Scheme Faces Delay Due to Manual Labor

The Railways has banned the use of machines to dig a pit under the railway line in Bagbera for the ongoing rural water supply scheme, causing concerns about potential delays in the project.

JAMSHEDPUR – There is resentment among the people of Bagbera due to the slow progress of the work.

Officials from the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department stated that a 365-meter long pit will be made, and the pipeline has to be taken to Bagbera by building a bridge on the Kharkai river. However, three legs of the bridge have not yet been constructed.

People say that the ban on using machines for digging the pit will likely delay the plan, as workers will now have to dig the pit manually.

The pipeline from the Intakewell located in Sapra to the filter plant of Bagbera Rural Water Supply Scheme needs to pass under the railway line, which prompted the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department to commence digging a pit using a machine. However, the Railways intervened and banned the use of machines for this purpose.
