JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has requested that the under-construction bridge over the Subarnarekha River, connecting Bhuiyadih Litti Chowk to NH-33 at Bhilai Pahadi, be named "Ratan Tata Setu."
In a letter to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Roy also proposed that the approach road to the bridge be named "Ratan Tata Path."
He stressed that construction should begin promptly, as the model code of conduct may soon be enforced.
The bridge was inaugurated by CM Soren on October 4, with Tata Steel playing a key role in the project by providing land on both sides of the river.
Roy noted that Tata Steel had previously purchased the land required for the approach road, which was given to the government for free.
This contribution helped reduce the overall project cost significantly, cutting down the initial estimate from ₹177 crore to ₹77 crore.
Of this, ₹44 crore is allocated for the bridge and road construction, with the remaining funds reserved for other tasks.
Roy emphasized the importance of completing the project with quality and speed, while honoring the contributions of Ratan Tata by naming the infrastructure after him.
