NIT Jamshedpur’s AMPT-2023 Sparks Global Talks on Advanced Materials Tech
National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur hosts AMPT-2023, a global conference on advancements in materials processing technology, fostering research collaboration.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur played host to the International Conference on “Advancement in Materials Processing Technology (AMPT-2023)”.
The conference, organized on July 13-14, 2023, took place in a hybrid mode, welcoming both physical and virtual participation from a wide array of esteemed academic and industry professionals.
AMPT-2023 was a collaborative effort, with partners like the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), JSW-BSPL, and Springer Publication. The conference served as a platform for discussions and sharing knowledge on the advancements in materials processing technology.

Organizing Team and Event Participation
The organizing team comprised Dr. Ranjit Prasad, the Chairman and Head of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Dr. Rina Sahu as the Convener, and Dr. Ram Krishna as the Organizing Secretary. With the guidance of Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, the Director of NIT Jamshedpur and the Patron of the conference, the team ensured the success of AMPT-2023.
The conference attracted a remarkable response, with over 250 papers submitted for presentation and publication. Participants included five directors from academic institutions and a CSIR laboratory, eight senior industry professionals, and twelve senior scientists from NML and Tata Steel.
Inaugural Session and Key Highlights
The inauguration session took place on 13th July 2023, with the presence of eminent individuals from academia and industry. Mr. UC Mishra, AVP of JSW-BSPL, served as the chief guest. Prof. PP Chattopadhyay, Director of NIAMT, Ranchi, and Prof. Indranil Manna, Vice-Chancellor of BIT Mesra, were the distinguished guests of honour.
The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a series of insightful speeches on the importance of material processing technologies. Over 200 papers were presented during the day, and the session concluded with Cultural Nights, an evening of student performances and entertainment.
Second Day and Valedictory Session
On July 14th, the second day of AMPT-2023, three parallel sessions were conducted, featuring presentations and discussions on various areas of materials processing technology. The day also included a keynote lecture by Mr. MS Ray, Managing Director of TCB Worldwide LLC, focusing on quality management in projects, processes, and performances.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session, summarizing the achievements and highlights of AMPT-2023 and expressing gratitude to all contributors. AMPT-2023 was a resounding success, fostering knowledge exchange and facilitating meaningful discussions in the field.
