Govt Order Shuts All Schools Across State Until June 14 Due to Heatwave

Due to the severe heatwave, the government has ordered all state-run, private, and aided schools to remain closed until June 14 to protect students’ health.

JAMSHEDPUR – In response to the extreme heat and heatwave conditions across the state, all government-run, private, and aided schools, including minority institutions, will remain closed from Monday, June 12, through Wednesday, June 14.

This directive has been issued by the state’s school education and literacy department.

The order, issued by government secretary K. Ravi Kumar, has been sent to the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts for necessary action.

Copies of the letter have also been distributed to the Regional Joint Director of Education, District Education Officer, District Superintendent of Education, Director, Secondary Education, Primary Education, M.D.M., J.C.E.R.T., State Project Director, and J.E.P.

While government schools in the state had already opened for the term following summer vacation, most private schools were slated to resume classes on June 12.

However, reports of children fainting or falling ill due to the extreme heat in different parts of the state had begun to emerge.

Consequently, there were growing demands from teachers’ unions, parents’ organizations, and others to extend the summer vacation in schools given the severe weather conditions.

Due to the severe heatwave, the government has ordered all state-run, private, and aided schools to remain closed until June 14 to protect students' health.
