Loyola School Extends Summer Vacation and Adjusts Timings Due to Heat Wave

In response to extreme heat conditions, Loyola School extends summer vacation for junior classes and alters school timings for others.

JAMSHEDPUR – Loyola School, a prominent private school in Jamshedpur, has taken measures to ensure student safety amid the ongoing heat wave.

The summer vacation for classes from LKG to Standard II has been extended till June 18, and class timings for the rest of the students have been adjusted.

Classes for Standard III and IV will run only from 6:30 am to 9:30 am. For Standards V to XII, the school hours will be from 6:30 am to 10:35 am.

This new timetable will be effective from June 12, and all parents have been informed through a notice issued by the school.

Private schools across the state are scheduled to reopen after the summer break on June 12. However, given the recent instances of children fainting due to the heat, schools may decide to extend the holidays.

While there has been no official response from the administration on this matter, private schools have started taking independent decisions.

Parents, on the other hand, urge the administration to reconsider the decision to reopen schools under these extreme heat conditions, suggesting a further extension of the holidays.

The city’s temperature has spiked to a sweltering 43.6 degrees Celsius, causing significant discomfort to the residents.

The notice from Loyola School, signed by its principal Father Vinod Fernandes SJ, stated that the decision was made considering the prevailing heatwave conditions in the state.

The altered timings will continue until further notice.
