TP Renewable Microgrid partners with Airtel Payments Bank to enhance customer convenience

Rural Consumers of TP Renewable Microgrid will be able to deposit their electricity bills at neighbourhood outlets of Airtel Payments Bank in UP and Bihar

National/Jamshedpur, 5th October 2020: TP Renewable Microgrid, a 100% subsidiary of India’s largest private utility, the Tata Power Company Limited, and Airtel Payments Bank, India’s First Payments Bank, announces a partnership under which Rural Consumers of TP Renewable Microgrid in Bihar and UP will be able to pay their electricity bills at Banking Points of Airtel Payments Bank.

The bill payment service at the Banking Points will be rolled-out in a phased manner. To begin with, services went live in Gonda and Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh, and Muzaffarpur district in Bihar on 2nd October 2020.

With this partnership, consumers will now be able to enjoy the freedom of paying their bills as per their convenience at the neighbourhood banking points of Airtel Payments Bank. Manned by local entrepreneurs, these Banking Points operate even during the weekends which will add to customer convenience.

Prompted by the need to support the Government of India’s efforts towards Rural Electrification, TP Renewable Microgrid forayed into rural villages of India to provide clean, affordable, reliable, and quality power supply to rural customers through Renewable Solar Microgrids. TP Renewable Microgrid further aims to target the commissioning of its 100th Microgrid by end of October 2020 and expand its consumer base to more than 1,500 consumers.
