Wedding Theft Accused Arrested by Jamshedpur Police, Stolen Goods Recovered
A Shukla, previously jailed under the Arms Act, arrested for stealing valuables during a wedding ceremony at Ramgarhia Society in Sakchi, Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – A Shukla, a resident of Sitaramdera, has been arrested by Jamshedpur police on charges of theft during a wedding ceremony at Ramgarhia Society in Sakchi.
The stolen items, including cash and jewelry, have been recovered by the police.
The arrest was made following a complaint by Anand Kumar, a resident of Mango Teachers Colony, who reported the theft to Sakchi police station.
The alleged theft occurred during his reception party held on May 30. Gifts received at the ceremony, including envelopes and jewelry, had been kept in a bag that later went missing.
The accused was identified and apprehended through the use of CCTV footage.
Among the items recovered from Shukla were a gold mangalsutra, a gold chain, a pair of bracelets, a pair of earrings, Rs 51,850 in cash, a mobile, a ladies purse, and 145 pieces of envelopes.
City In-charge ASP, Sumit Agarwal, said that Shukla, who works as a private security guard in Tata Steel UISL, had previously been jailed in an Arms Act case from Sitaramdera police station.
On the day of the incident, Shukla had attended the wedding reception as a guest, where he noticed the bag of gifts and seized the opportunity to steal it. He has now been sent to jail.
