Sidhgora Vidyapatinagar youth killed, 2 friends arrested

Police say 2 accused have admitted to having murdered their friend, police deploy search teams to find dead body in river

Jamshedpur: A youth from Vidyapatinagar under the jurisdiction of Sidhgora police station was allegedly killed by his two friends with whom he went out Tuesday night.

The two friends have allegedly told the police during interrogation that they have killed him after a quarrel and they had thrown the dead body into the river. The police have now deployed search teams to trace and take out the dead body from the river.

According to the mother of the deceased, Kanti Devi, her son, Sagar Sona (26), has been missing since Tuesday night.

The mother expressed doubts about the two friends of her missing son and went to Sidhgora police with a complaint.

The police acted fast and took the two friends into custody and started interrogating them.

According to police sources, the two friends subsequently confessed to having murdered Sagar and dumping his body into the river following an argument.

Sagar went out on Tuesday night with his two friends, according to Kanti Devi, but he did not come back.

According to Sagar’s mother, Kanti Devi, her husband is unwell and she discharges the responsibility of running the home and Sagar used to do odd jobs outside the city.

According to her, Sagar left the house with his two friends Tuesday night but never came back. She said that Sagar was not with his two friends when the latter arrived home at 11:30 p.m.

One of the friends was questioned by Kanti Devi regarding Sagar’s whereabouts, but he gave no response.

However, when questioned by police, Sagar’s friends admitted that there had been a quarrel between them that resulted in a fight and after killing Sagar they allegedly dumped his body into the river.

The police have now deployed search teams to scour for the dead body.
