Ghadi Detergent factory workers demonstrate for dues at DLC office, warn of indefinite hunger strike

Jamshedpur: JMM leaders Shyamal Sarkar and Pintu Dutta led a demonstration of hundreds of workers of Ghadi Detergent Factory of Bhilai Pahari area of East Singhbhum. The demonstration was held at the Deputy Labour Commissioner’s office at Sitaramdera on Monday.

The case of hundreds of workers employed by Ghadi Detergent Company in Bhilai Pahari of East Singhbhum district, has been ongoing for the last one year.

Employees of the factory have been agitating under the leadership of JMM leaders Shyamal Sarkar and Pintu Dutta.

On Monday, hundreds of Ghadi Detergent factory workers carried the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha banner to the Deputy Labor Commissioner’s office in Sitaramdera and demonstrated.

According to JMM leader Shyamal Sarkar, the workers have been subjected to arbitrary treatment by the management of Ghadi Detergent Company for the last one year.

He said that if the workers’ dues were not cleared through the Dy LC within one week, they would be forced to go on indefinite hunger strike at the Dy LC Office.

According to Pintu Dutta, a JMM leader and former councilor, the laborers are all from impoverished rural households who have faced injustice at the hands of the Ghadi detergent management.

He said that the company’s management is aiming to deny workers’ rights, and that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will not allow such injustice any more. He said that if required, all workers will be forced to go on indefinite hunger strike in front of the Deputy Labor Commissioner’s office.
